READ: You Can Take ‘Jumanji’, Just Leave ‘Scream’ Alone

Did you hear the news, you guys?

They’re rebooting Jumanji. I’m so sick of this God damn word. Especially when it’s placed in front of one of my all-time favourite films from the 90s. If you know me well, you know about my love for Jumanji. I can quote all of it, whenever, wherever. It’s just…it’s MY movie. We all have that movie. Jumanji is mine.

I don’t know the logistics of it, I’m too sad and in mourning to even look at any press release, but whatever. It’s happening and there’s nothing I can do about it. I hope it’s not a straight up remake. Even if it was a sequel I’d be okay with that. I’d be down with that. Robin Williams & Bonnie Hunt together again, on the big screen and better then ever?! You got me, bro! I’m there!

Just not this.

It’s too soon.

It’s too fresh.

And, just for the sake of asking: exactly what was Zathura then?

I just need some time by myself and DVD of Jumanji which was signed by Kristen Dunst. I’m allowed one name drop during this time of loss.

  1. I’ll admit that I watched Jumanji an awful lot when I was young (except for the part with the giant plant, that creeped my out as a child) and hearing the news that it’s being rebooted fills me with both sadness and optimism. Optimism because I can always hope that this will be one of the “good” reboots like the recent remake of Judge Dredd. The sadness is that if it is a straight up sequal it will likely have next to nothing to do with the original and be about some new kids finding the game.I dunno, when it comes to film studios digging up classic movies I like to keep an open mind
